Censys at Aims Community College

Several CCUAS members attended a drone demonstration by Censys Technologies hosted by the folks at Aims Community College. We visited their new Windsor, Colorado campus which will host their aviation program including the UAS department.

Aims’ Chief UAS Instructor Pilot Jake Marshall welcomed the group and explained their program and plans for expansion. Several of their students were in attendance.

Gabe Lopez was the Remote Pilot In Command for the day’s demonstration and provided a professional safety brief prior to launch.

The demonstration was of Censys’ Sentaero BVLOS aircraft which is Vertical Takeoff and Landing and transitions to fixed wing operation. It can be equipped with several different payload sensors, including their newest addition of LIDAR.

Command of the aircraft was done from a state-of-the-art, custom-built command trailer that features redundant power, computers and air conditioning. This particular trailer could hold a UTV for operations in rugged, remote locations.

Censys has been invited to participate in our upcoming 10th UAS Roundup on September 11 & 12, 2022. Hopefully they, in conjunction with Aims, will be able to show off this great technology.
